What is this thing on ps2 controller pcb?

IF YOU KNOW IT'S A BIG PIC, DON'T *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ING POST IT. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH A LINK. JESUS.

When I opened up my Dualshock 2 I was wondering the same thing. Threw the thing away though.

What's more important than what it is really, is does it need to be there, and if so, how do I solder to this flex pcb easier?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Rephrased to make moar sense. Snow, J.D. also wondered what the tiny thing is. He threw his away. You were wondering, was it needed for the controller to work right. J.D. replies FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF because he threw this part away on his controller, and now it may not work.

I'd say that thing is a really ghetto resistor, used to pull the line low or something. Don't bother trying to solder to the flex circuit. It'll just destroy it.

Beta, I'm pretty Dang sure I posted it as a link. If I didn't, I meant to. Hence the "big image" warning, so people clicking the link would know beforehand. If I posted it as an image, just a *Can'tSayThisOnTV*up then.

I think the spot is what they're talking about.

What they're talking about where?

I've found out the thing is a resistor. If only we could get a value, but soldering or mechanical contact do not work on this flexpcb except at the connector, and mine is destroyed from trying the soldering iron on it.
Anybody else care to test it please?

Two things:

1. It's not a resistor. THERE IS NO RESISTOR THERE.
2. Look at your button pads. See the similarities? There's a reason for that.

My guess would be..... possibly a reset button.
