Utilizing random things for making handheld cases?

Lets make a thread specific to this, where people can post their ideas for making cases from generic things lying around the house, from toys to toolkit cases.

I'll start by throwing this out there, has anyone tried making a case out of... a Polly Pocket? it's hard to say without knowing the size of it, but this would make one heck of a case if things could fit properly, I suspect the tan colored plastic on the inside can be ripped out completely.

In my first portable I used a plastc foodcontainer box. Didn't work out that well, ABS cement doesn't bond with PP plastic (which the container was).
A common choice is routers and modems as they are often made of ABS.
That polypocket thingy could work but the hinge might get in the way of shoulder buttons.

Also tried to make a case out of VHS tapes :)

I'm disappointed that the VHS case didn't work out. That could've been the coolest portable ever. What was the problem with it?

Thank you good sir!
The black plastic is pretty thin, and the windows plastic is hard. I tried to fill in all the grooves in the plastic with abs cement but it was too much work sanding them down. I ended up crushing it under my bare foot and used a modem instead with a nice smooth surface.

I recommend trying this if you need a really, really cheap case. IIRC was it just the right size for the latest model of a phat PS1.
