This is my first time soldering anything. Is this ok?

looks a heck of a lot nicer than my first forays into the art. however, it looks like you may have some shorts. i would recommend stripping those wires shorter and doing it again.

Your soldering actually does not seem too bad.

I'd recommend stripping the wires far shorter like sam said, and also it's structurally stronger if you put the wires parallel to the pins when soldering.

A good method is to tin the wire and the pin with solder, then hold them together and reheat them.

You need to take a LOT less insulation off of your wires.

The green one is good, do that more.

Heck, you don't even need that much. I try to strip as little as possible, about 1/8"-1/4".

wiring the (not specifically) N64's cartridge slot directly to the RCP. it allows you to cut the board quite a bit.

i try for 1/16th all the time. and i generally heatshrink over everything too.

Are these salvageable? Could I just use electrical tape on the longer ones or should I just strip them and try again?

just nip off most of the exposed wire, no need to strip more.

for now just separate all the short sand cover it in hot glue to keep them away from eachother.
