The Jay64 worklog. UPDATE 4/6

Re: The GDNAZN45N64pN64p worklog. Pics...TODAY. 3/15

Well, if it doesn't harden completely, I wouldn't be all that concerned. It's VERY solid right now, and I can barely move the pieves. The only thing I'm afraid of is the bondo not adhering to the epoxy because it's not solid completely. I did sand it last night so that nothing is higher than where I need to put bondo...so hopefully that will harden over it and I won't have to worry about it. I'll let you know in about 8 hours :p

I bondo'd ALL DAY. I've got about 11 more spots to make perfect and stuff, then I'm going to apply primer. Then I can see what the big flaws are and fill in the little dips and stuff in the bondo. I'm at a standstill, though, because I need primer and Krylon to really get much further. As far as the guts go, I can't start until I order a screen. I don't want to start until I know I can finish within, I don't know, 2 days. Hopefully more progress tomorrow :) If only a little bit. I probably won't post any progress until I do paint it somewhat.

What type of Bondo are you using? I use Glazing and Spot Putty, and it doesn't really work that well.

You know, the Krylon Fusion doesn't have anything to bond with if you cover the entire thing in Bondo first. There's no point, you can use something else.

XCVG, I'll have it posted in a few hours.

Beta, I already have the Krylon that I need because of my dad, so unless some other paint will work better, I'll be using Krylon Fusion. Plus, not the WHOLE case will have bondo - I just shaped it to make it more comfortable and the was a bit extra on the case :)

It looks like it's covered in Bondo.
Or is that ABS?

Re: The GDNAZN45N64pN64p worklog. Pics...TODAY. 3/16

I think the top right has a LITTLE bit of plastic showing...

Plus, only the front is going to have significant amounts of bondo, so other paint wouldn't work for the rest of the case.

ALMOST FINISHED with the case!

There are some scratches and crap from me being careless, but I've got one more layer of paint and the protection coat left to do. The vent (bottom and top-middle) and speaker (top side) holes are supposed to be kinda off, but not quite as much as they were  I'll be making it more uniform whenever I pick up work on this again (or am not busy with English homework). I was working with a hand drill and, well, it didn't come out QUITE as well as I had hoped. I will say that the case looks MUCH better than that in real life, it is actually really nice. I'm very happy with how it's come out so far :) I'm going to do the back part (cart slot) probably tomorrow or Tuesday, so I'll post more pictures then. Still working on trying to get a screen before April 15th...that'd be a bummer. Regardless, I'll be doing the controller rewiring as soon as I finish the case. That's all I'm really willing to do before I have the screen, but I may force myself to wire up everything but the screen. We'll see.

You could always solder on some RCA wires to go to your tv for testing if you need to. This is what I do when I get overzealous and remove all the ports without thinking.

I could, but after last night (worked on the case while I was angry = shoulder buttons are too far away from fingers (it's only a tad uncomfortable)), I'm really taking this thing slowly and carefully.

Wired the controller and ordered my screen today. I should be done with this before next weekend :) I'll post more once I get a good bit of progress.

Personally, I think it looked cleaner in white but meh, it's still awesome. :p

So do I, but that's primer for one thing, and with the case how it is now (I've done more since the last picture), it actually looks pretty nice. It's all different in person for both colors, too.

I RELOCATED THE CART SLOT! I'm ridiculously proud of myself; I thought I fried that Dang thing like, 7 times! I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK! I'll be done with this before Monday! :)

great though. is it your first relocation?

Sure is! The only thing I have left is to hook up the batteries and shove it all into the case! :)
