Yeah, that definitely wouldn't work. Even if one is off, it will still run interference.

So, if someone decided to hook up two slots with a switch for every pin(overkill, I know) even that would not make it possible to switch between cartslots? I'm curious, as I'm coming up with an idea... I'll try my idea once I get more experienced, if it works I'll tell you. Anyways, I'm really curious about it, so could someone tell me if that first sentence in this post would work?

If you did hook up every pin to a switch (overkill is an understatement), then yes, it would work because the second cart slot wouldn't be having any signals go to/from the board. As far as practicality...
