Super duper Genesis 3 Portable

So I think I might end up making a handheld adaption of the Genesis 3. I got a PSone LCD really cheap, so, why not?

I did a lot of board cutting, and I can definitely do a lot more once I relocate the cart slot and hardwire the controller.

Fuh.

It worked fine last night.

This morning, it wouldn't work.

What a jerk.

Well, now I gotta think of a Plan B. I have all these Sega Nomads... the board inside is pretty tiny...

Now what i can't figure out is whether or not it's

1) really dead
2) the video signals I'm pulling aren't strong enough to show anything

if it's #2, I'd know by listening for sound - as you can see in this picture I've long ago removed the connectors for A/V and have absolutely no idea where to pull sound from.

That big black thing is the oscillator I replaced - it worked like this for days, so I know that's not the issue here.

I looked at that picture and laughed. I'm not even sure why, but I found it extremely funny.

Success: I got my hands on another one, and I cut it down even smaller, and it works to boot.

Pretty soon I'll have guides up for cutting both versions of the board.

The heart version can easily output stereo sound too!

For relocating I got lazy and didn't feel like removing the old one. They are in paralell, and I'm surprised that having both carts in doesn't crash it - rather it makes it quite crashproof! One cart is loose, no problem, #2 keeps on going!

lol try cutting off the 5v to one of the cart slots and see if it cuts off that cart, would be cool to have a cart switch to switch between games :p
