Well, if you put a ton of time in it and really work to get the case looking good, it'll happen. Freaking tedious, though.

I hate sanding, especially when my sandpaper wears out and I don't have any more so I have to keep using the same sandpaper which is taking away less and less material with each pass.

Wetsanding helps your paper last a bit longer. It stops the grit from getting clogged as fast. I still spent a week wetsanding Mulder's Nipples, though. There aren't any real shortcuts that make it as pretty as good sanding does.
