SLGC - ShockSlayer's SL-68p GCp: Worklog

Woo!
ShockSlayer is actually starting another project!

What, it's been like, over a year since he's made an ACTUAL HANDHELD PORTABLE?

Yeah, sure, there was that mindblowingly awesome ZNWii thing, but that doesn't count...

ANYWAYS. I plan to make a handheld GCp, in an SL-68p case. With batteries.

Pictured above? NOTHING OF ANY REAL INTEREST TO THIS PROJECT. Every idiot noob that starts a worklog and has a cellphone camera almost always posts a pic of the godDang console. For your viewing pleasure(?). SO I DID IT TOO, but I put cool stuff in the picture too so it's sorta interesting. Also I had to turn up the brightness after realizing I forgot the turn on the flash.

Mainly just wanted to show off my new hat. :sscool:

But yeah, I got that cube for $15 at a local pawn shop. Had to make my own av cable for it, but I had an RF adapter laying around and I re-purposed the pins and used some spare AV cables I had on hand.

Not pictured above is the 4.3" screen, Wiikey Fusion, ribbon cable adapter, and SL-68p case I just ordered. :ssawesome:

So yeah. STAY TUNED FOR PROGRESS AND PICTURES...tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure it runs as low as 5v or maybe 3v I will check when I get them in at the end of the month.

Bud should find out if this screen runs off of something lower than 12v.

I have 3 that run as low as 5v. They're exactly the same as that one. Mine were even bought from different sellers. Couldn't even get a flash on 3v. Also it won't turn on unless it's getting a video signal.

SL-68p GCP?

*BUCKETS*

is this is not going to have a disk drive? and will run games off sd? but anyway, cant wait to see Shockslayers 3rd!

woot.

is the SL-68p that tinyass case? Too lazy too look it up, but it had better be small SS!

I'm super pumped for all the success that will happen in this thread.

just fir those too lazy

dayum..small gcp SS :D

Indeed. Also, to correct you from earlier, this will be my fourth GCp. I created another one into an N64p case with a 3.5" screen and some random ass batteries, sold it. Palmer scrapped it for parts, I believe.

FYI, the SL-68p is the same case that the TriSixtyFource used, except this time I don't plan on adding the spacer in the middle.

It's gonna be biblical.

Seeing as how I just ordered parts yesterdaytwo days ago, there isn't really much of a reason to expect any real progress. But I did anyways.

Ripped(slowly and carefully as to avoid ripping) the gamecube apart and soldered up a sd card slot to slot A memory card. Dicked around with it for a bit, just to make sure it was working. VIDEO DOCUMENTATION AND PICTURES BELOW:

Gonna release somewhat episodic videos of the SLGC's progress in an attempt to throw more up on my youtube page, tend to tiny subscriber count, and make me feel like this adventure is worth finishing!

Fun fact, I believe the powerboard in this gamecube can be run off of 7.4v.
I came across a powerboard many moons ago when I was studying the gamecube with Electric_rain once that was equipped to take a variety of voltages because of the TI chip on the back. It's two identifying characteristics were the single TI chip on the back and the large yellow inverter on the front. I will look into this later.

SS

I had that powerboard once- on a fried GC I got for free and eventually *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing threw the *Can'tSayThisOnTV* out. God Dang it, SS, share information earlier! D:

It's not information until it's tested, I never said it did or it could, more that I think it might. It might not. Chances are, there are probably several others that can be powered by less than 12v with a little jump here or there.
