Relocating power switch - Non Portable

Hi there. I am trying to relocate the power switch on the nintendo 64.

I am preparing to print a case for a mini n64 I made previously as I didnt necessarily do the best job when making the original. Now that I have the ability to 3d print I believe I can make a much better quality case and add some new features!

Anyway I digress...

So I have bought this switch and am wondering the following....

a) this will work right?

b) what is the best way to do this? can I solder the posts from this switch onto the solder points that are attached to the current switch or should I be interrupting the power from the source (which I have changed to PSP power supply btw.)

A few notes....

• I am choosing to relocate as I want the switch on the back, its not due to space concerns. To this end I do not have to remove the old one technically. Could I not leave it in the on position and install this switch at the back? If this is a yes how do I wire this switch into the power? I am in the dark as to how to wire this bad boy up and would appreciate any diagrams people have on the subject. I dug around the forums for a bit and could only find reference to soldering the power switch points to always on...

Thanks in advance for any advice. I will make a proper work log for this soon however the original build was on Made By bacteria forums which are gone (?!)

Here is one of the old photos I had from the previous case incase your curious.

Name: Bond Box
Purpose: Only plays Goldeneye64 (cart is hard wired to the console).
Why would you do that: Part boredom, part to learn something new, part because we play alot of Goldeneye.
Other: PSP power supply, mini RCA cables, Fan cooled, Yellow Led's

I found this thread http://forums.modretro.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=9680 and the accompanying duplicate. Using this info and the recommended switch within I find that mine is a DPST (single throw rather than double). If I am not mistaken this means I can NOT use it to replace power switch is it needs to switch the 12v and 3.3v lines simultaneously. Correct me if Im wrong though...

If this is the case can i still use this switch where the power comes in? Sorry for my ignorance here and appreciate the help!

Yeah you would just switch the power source and bridge existing switch poles so the system is "always on".

Sorry man, I dont think that answer addresses my issues. I have switched the power source previous and although always on is an option for the existing switch, I still want a switch in there....

Ok, to continue my search for a working solution I have found this switch in my junk drawer

This one IS DPDT so I believe will work. Can anyone verify I can ouse this one to replace the existing power switch?

I am unclear about the voltage etc and if this is appropriate for the n64.

If so is it a matter of soldering the switch to the connectors on the board in the same fashion on the old one? Is there any way to mess this up? (put it on backwards or something?)

Again, thanks for the help!

All you need is DPST, but yes, DPDT is capable of doing the trick as well.

Please excuse the poor drawing, but it'd look something like this:
