Question about running Wii off batteries

I am posting this because i am having a problem, the problem is, is i cant seem to power my wii off batteries with some kind of disc drive connected to the main board. I've tried using a wode, a sundriver, a regulare disc drive, but when i have any of these connected, the wii will not power on with my batteries (12v 5000mAh). It isnt until i disconnect the disc drive, sundriver, or wode, that the wii will power on by the batteries. I can't think of anything i am doing wrong. Am i missing or forgetting something important?

Perhaps there is a short in the connector that prevents it from powering on with something plugged in. Can you power it off wall power with a drive in?

What C rating are you batteries? It is possible, but doesn't seem likely, that your batteries are unable to discharge their current fast enough to power everything. Measure the current draw while on wall power vs batteries.

Thanks for the advice, I will try measuring the current as soon as Possible tomorrow and tell you what I find. Also, I may have asked this question before on here but how would I go about finding out the C rating of my batts? They are 3.7v 5000mAh lipos from batteryspace if that helps at all.

I tried to measure the amp draw on my wii but on my multimeter it says "0.00". Not sure what I am doing wrong, but if there is anyone who has been following this thread and knows what i'm doing wrong, please tell me

You have to set the meter to the mA setting. Then you need to put the meters leads in the right slots. Some meters don't need this, some have to be moved.

Then the black/red meter probes need to be in series with the power to the portable. In other words, power goes from wall/batteries into the red probe, then the black probe goes to the power wire going into the portable.

Ok, so it turns out that it the adjustable step down voltage regulator which was connected from my batteries to the system was prohibiting the correct sufficient electrical current flow, so once i removed the voltage regulator and connected the batteries straight to the wii, everything powered on perfectly. Just thought i'd let people know incase anyone else runs into this problem, which i doubt.
