[Q] First time CGB mod

Newb
Hi everybody!

I'm planning on modding a CGB for the first time, but first I have a few questions I'd like to ask:

- I want to remove the IR sensor, do I just unsolder it or do I have to short-circuit it/replace it with a resistance?
(Yes, I'm a newbie concerning electronics but I'm kind of beginning to learn it in engineering school  )

- If I put a switch where the IR sensor used to be, will there still be enough room for a GBASP frontlight panel?

- I'd also like to replace the red LED power indicator with a yellow one (to match my awesome yellow case  ), do I need a specific voltage/something? And I currently have 3mm LEDs and 5mm LEDs, which should I use?

- Last but not least (this might have been asked already but I figured I'm already annoying you with all these questions... ), I've looked everywhere and couldn't find a way to make it possible to switch between crystals while the CGB is on, is there any?

That's it! I know that's a lot of questions but hopefully when you answer them and when I find the time to actually mod my CGB, I'll post some pictures of the most awesome CGB you've ever seen! (Well, probably not, but at least a decent one. :p )

Thanks!
;)

Yo.
So, I'll go ahead and answer your questions.

Yeah, just desolder it. That's what I did in my overclocked CGB, and I haven't noticed anything wrong with it. As far as I know, I don't have any games that require it anyway.

Should be.

If the 5mm fits, use either one. Otherwise, just use the 3mm. 3V would be best.

Kind of. You can switch from fast to slow, but not from slow to fast. You would need to reboot the Gameboy. It's not possible (as far as I know) to make the GB able to do that.

Cant hurt to have resistance, but ive never done a CGB thing in my life (But I have to all the other gameboys)
And for the resistance, its you can always go fast to slow, not the other way around. But its not a big deal to always be fast if its for Pokemon

Hey!
How long do you usually wait for Dealextreme packages?
The case I ordered was sent on Nov. 27 but I'm still waiting for it...
:(
