PSA about 3.5 eBay screens

I have noticed how many people (myself included) have had problems with versions of #2 from Hail's review. It seems that all the screens with brightness, saturation, and contrast controls all have backlighting issues. What I mean is, is that the backlight doesn't even turn on.

Screens without the controls usually work just fine.

Just be wary of 3.5 inch screens with the controls on the back.

I've had this problem twice. My screens had controls on the back: brightness, contrast, and something that flipped the image.

I opened up the screen and got to the LEDs that backlight the screen. I powered them directly with 5 volts and they lit up. The screen board sends the screen 5 volts, but somewhere along the way, the connection is broken. Potentially, you could wire to the six or so LEDs, but they're hard to solder too, and I don't know how you would fit the wires into the metal frame.

I just bought one of these screens as well, and unfortuanatly my backlight ALSO does not work!

Hardwire the LED's.

I've had good results with this screen, it's the one that's in the simple 64.

It's a full system bios with a menu and adjustments, it's different from the ebay screens.
