Just try to keep your fingers off them or any other solder points
because the oils from your skin are antioxidants that make soldering to a surface harder or impossible.

If you use flux do you still have to worry about that?

Haha just clean your connections gently with a clean dry materal like a cloth.
And a little flux never hurts.
