Did you look under the metal blocks?

what metal blocks, in the pics what you c is what you get. my n64 came with NO HEATSINK BLOCKS attached, just a metal plate above. Those metal things are pieces i cut from that plate, and that is a heatsink i found, no paste under it.

Hmm I have opened well over 15 n64s (three of them rev9) and I have never heard of a heatsink without thermal pads.

There has to be something up. Was there anything at all that touched any of the chips? Not having the heatblocks is like a car not having a driveshaft, there is no way for the power (heat) to get to the road.

nope, one piece of shielding, with factory cut outs where the chips would be, not touching the chips at all...i got it from jlee so he didn't purposefully rip me off.
