N64 p started-stsstsfN64p!!!

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

Well, I have to put this project on hold for a bit, while I work on my other portable, and get some materials. Seeing as i already have my case in the mail, the gamecube analog(which i might not even use, i will use a psp nub and a superpad 64 controller) After that, I need to order my system, or find one nearby in a pawnshop, though my friend may sell me one if he gets it from his grandparents house. Other than that, i need my batteries, PCB, and charger, then, actually building it!

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

Well, i guess i am going to use a gamecube analog, since I already have a gamecube controller.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

got my case, and it is a bit bigger than i expected. going to start on case work as soon as someone tells me the dimensions of a 3.5" lcd, and i get some epoxy putty. Dang, i need a dremel now.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

Yeah, sorry, I realized it was kinda trollish after I said it, but you should edit your post or something, rather than posting 4 times in a row. Also, I think a 3.5 inch screen is 2.8" by 2.1", but I'm not 100% sure.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

NOOO! Using linear regulators, which dissipate extra voltage as heat, is the worst idea - it'll cut your battery life roughly in half. Use a switching, efficient regulator.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

No, don't use an lm317 - that's a linear regulator and they waste a lot of power.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

Get a ti regulator for christs sake. They're free and very efficient.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

LM317: Terrible efficiency, somewhat confusing pinout.
3.3V fixed regulator (linked): Inefficient, but dead simple to wire.
7805 with resistors: Just no.

Get a TI regulator. They are awesome. You want a PTH08080 or PTH08000.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

It's just a difference in what you need to wire it up. I always use the pth8080. All you need is a 100uf cap and a 2.2k resistor.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

Okay, as soon as I get my cousins address to send it to (my mom is pissed already) I will order it.

You need the same flax to wire up both of 'em.

Only difference is the 08080 can take up to 20v or somethin, and the 08000 only 14v.

Re: N64 p started need help on a name!!!

So, since the N64 uses 5 volts and 3.3 volts, couldn't I use 2 pt8080's, one wired up for 3.3 volts, and one wired up to 5? That way, I wouldn't need to use a 7805, which, as you said, was terribly inefficient.
