N64 Controller Motherboard help.

I am making my first portable system (n64) and I am confused about a few things.
How do I cut the motherboard without ruining it? I've seen people cut it, but how do you do it so that it doesn't break?
And what is a good tool to cut it? Does my workspace have to be ventilated or is it safe?

As for what to use to cut the motherboard I just use a
Dremel tool which works great.

I like to use tin snips for the heavy duty cutting and just use the dremal to finish and clean the cut up.
