More n64 problems

This is the second board I am trying to restore, but nothing I do works: I know it's not an power source problem, it's not the Av cable and it's no the expansion pack. It simply does nothing when I turn it on except turning the LED on, if it is an usefull information the chip U4 is geting hot pretty quickly, more than all others chips, but still not extremely hot.

I'm not too sure. All I can say is to try a couple different games, as well as a different screen if possible. Perhaps it is the AV cable.... Try soldering the video connects straight to the board and see if it makes a difference.

What exactly do you mean by "restore?" And I'd check for shorts and make sure it's getting the right voltages and amperages if you aren't using an original power brick

I was wondering the same thing! Have you cut the board at all? If you have, and you didn't sand it, it's fried. If you have no shorts, and everything is getting the right voltages and amperages. Then my guess is that it is the AV cable. Play around with it, and try changing your connections for video and power, and solder them directly on the board. Have you done anything to the board whatsoever? Like take out the expansion port or something.

Sounds dead. If the LED is turning on, that means there's not likely a short on the 3.3v circuit, which is what most of the logic runs on.
