So last night I desoldered, and resoldered the current wires. I instead only got the "Cannot Read Disc" error! I continued to mess with the GC by turning on and off, toggling the wii eject hoping it would work. After a few tries... dead mobo! No voltage across anything 'cept the plugin for the power reading 12.22v
I carefully studied the board over, nothing was touching, the only thing different was the heatsink was off kilter by a few centimeters. I set it back into place, and off course I know that shouldn't fix it nor could it have been the problem... could it? Maybe the heatsink touched one or a few caps, grounding them... IDK, I'm at a loss. Has this ever happened to anyone... fix?
