Nothing. Companies get bought like this all the time.
Disney bought Marvel, but nothing happened.

Palm will keep doing their own thing, but with slight input from HP.

Of course now hp has rights to WebOS, so I wouldn't be surprised if they made some devices to use it, and it was also obvious since palm was up for sale that "their own thing" was not working out so hotly, so hp will probably be doing SOMETHING to get them up and running again.
