If I stuck a spare GPU onto a small motherboard and connect that to my laptop would it act like an external GPU or would it just fail, if so why?

I don't have a ExpressSlot or mPICe slot, but this is interesting. I don't believe it's worth the money but I wanted to experiment and make it myself.
