Re: Player 1 & video switch question

Just wanted to post these pics. I have my case done except for the clear coat. I have a shot of what the front will look like with everything in it. Still need to do the audio amp but that will come with time, and the ability to order the right caps. Well to the picks.

The screen fits in there so tight I probably won't need to actually mount it.

Just check out that paint job.

woh really nice, the painting is so nice, it's look like one piece case, can't see the join of the different parts, amazing !

Rustoleum (?) I have to look at the can for the spelling. The whole surface is all on how well you use the bondo, how well you sand, and the grit of paper you use towards the end. I also coated this thing several times with both primer and paint. I ended with a 400 grit paper but I really wish I could have gone with 1500 or 2000.

oh by the way...
that pic i showed you of my paint job....that was black primer....not black paint...
so i imagine your finish will look more like darth vador's helmet compared to mine...

something to think about...

Oh and nothing better than to drop your back case on the way to spray and damage the finish. So I had to sand the back again and ran out of paint. Then Walmart didn't have the right black, so went for a semi gloss black, which looks very much like the flat black I used. Still rustoleum though.

I am curious on how you guys keep the 2 tact switches together for the dual tact mod for the L and R buttons. I figure hot glue would make it too big and restrictive and I think epoxy would make it resrictive as well. Now I don't have any squishy tacts like it was showed in the mod tut. I also couldn't find them on mouser.com. either way I would really like to figure this out. If not I will probably just do the single.

So I have an idea on how to wire this controller. Bad thing is that I'm out of clear coat. The paint job just kept getting that orange peel like surface. Kept sanding and sanding. This shall be done very soon. I just really need to find time to paint during day time hours.

Quick update, I shall have everything but the audio done by tonight. Not happy with how I have the triggers but they will work for now. Had to do some running around but when I get home I will finish up this portable to about 95% done. I will be working on my audio amp the next few days, I have one soldered together just need to find a way to test it out without wiring to my gc for now. I have some linear regs that do 5v and a 9v battery holder so this should do to help aid me in my quest.

Oh and I guess I should put a low battery indicator in there too, soon, soon.

Edit: *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing figures, got cut some more of this dd hosting from the old cd burner to accommodate for the c stick needing to be a little lower that the main stick. Oh well deep breath, we got this. Tomorrow pics of the baddest project I've ever put together.

Excited? *Can'tSayThisOnTV* yeah!!

Well here it is together. Although a couple of issues so far, as soon as I get into the load screen for Swiss where I can change my settings it freezes. Started playing some zelda and before the intro was done my screen started blinking out. My trigger buttons are sticking. So far that is what she looks like. So I guess I have to figure out why the screen does that, that why swiss is being weird.

Wow  looks awsome and slim also and why does it have the bump in the back also about the screen just try using a thicker wire for the videos ground and for the power also

Thanks dude. The bump is so that when laying on it's back the buttons aren't being stressed while the unit is not in use. Also the wire I used for my video is a 50ohm double shielded coaxial cable. I got a bit of it with a tx coolrunner I had bought for someone who backed out of an 360 mod. Plus I tried it with an xbox and I tell ya what, it did worse than what it was supposed to. I didn't pay for it, it just came with it.

I'm pretty sure that the video issue might be more than that. I am wondering if my batteries aren't any good any more or if the pcb is damaged somehow. Either way I have to test with standard power. So I am going to chop up an extra gc psu and put an end on it that I picked up from radio Shack and test. But that's tomorrow talk or even maybe the next day.

If you can't tell from the pics I have s huge mess to clean up and another console I need to mess with to see if I can get it working.

I will have to get a pic of it while on its back on a table. Also, I just found out that I have a YouTube account. Had no idea I just went to the app on my phone to sign up and I'm signed in. Found out it words kinda like face book and tapatalk and saw my name at the top. Although I'm pretty sure my brother said something about me having one because of my Google account. So I may put up a video and it might sound dumb so please laugh and poke fun.

Portables are fun, addictive, puzzling, awesome, difficult, tedious, and pricey. Either way, I may do more I may not. I know I have a great idea for a wiip. Just soft modded one the other day. I have a wkf I may wire up to it cause it doesn't have the ffc connector.

Hahaha yeah portables are fun also i love the last pic it looks messy i like it when it looks like that , also cool about the bump and i also think it may b the pcb i think i have two 3.7v pcb i have to check

Screen issues are a power issue. Maybe I don't charge them long enough. How long should it take to charge a 7.4v 4400 mah custom battery pack with a smart charger @8.4v and 1.5a?

Ok so found out my swiss issue was wkf wiring. So I just fixed it. Downside, auto boot was a symptom of bad wiring my 16 gig card doesn't auto boot any more. My gcp no longer autoboots with the one card but I haven't tried the one I know does yet. Actually while I have this apart I'm going to epoxy the sd slot in for my wkf so it doesn't come off any more and is in the right spot. Yay now I just need to get another charger and very my audio working then gcp = finished.

Edit: Now I'm pretty sure that what ever my problem was, it was also that my L trigger is shorting against the metal case. It can be easily remedied by drilling holes in the casing.

I also found something cheap, at meijer here in the states, for my audio amp. Tried it with a li ion 3.7 v battery and it amped my phone well. Googled the only ic in it to find it takes 5 volts, that's a plus. Also had a digital pot built in. This also looks trimmable. And only single sided.

Hey i have one of this amps they work great but i had to change the speakers do to the left one was damaged

Thanks for the info dude, although, these speakers work great. It sounds great with my gc as well so I'm super excited that I will be finished soon. I really didn't need to but I trimmed up the board for it and everything still works great. So I now need to drill some holes for speaker vents, may repaint that area to get in the holes but I may leave them as is. Then I need to extend the buttons for the amp. Then it's finished.
