GC MEMORY CARD QUESTIONS :D

For slot A, I wired up an SD Card slot according to this diagram:

So, SD Pin to GC Mem Card Pin 9 and SD Pin 2 to GC Mem Card Pin 5, etc. I also bridged 2 and 10, however, when I turn it on with an SD card in, it says "Nothing inserted in Slot A." Do I need to format the SD card with a special tool?

Also, I hard wired a first party GC Mem Card to Slot B and it says "The object inserted in Slot B cannot be used." Help.

Thanks in advance,
SQ

Thats actually the guide I used. :) And you can't use one as a mem card??!?!??! I don't believe you.

No, they're not memory cards, they're for homebrew and utilities.

There's a reason that original memory card slots and cards are used in portable gamecubes rather than an sd card.

wire up a real memory card to slot a. Wire up an sd card slot to slot b. Then, you'll be able to save games, and use the sd card for homebrew.

I'm not going to use an SD card in Slot A anymore. I'm asking why it says "The object inserted in Slot B could not be used" for my hard wired memory card. The wire length, perhaps?

Yeah, I will tomorrow. It kinda just dawned on me that wire length would matter with IO bus communications (as with any memory card).

I'm probably just going to fold it under my board anyway, so I don't need very long wires.

Yeah, sense line is annoying, but it's also really handy, put normally closed switches on them so you can toggle "removing" the memory card when you want to, for when cards go "corrupt" and to swap SD cards.

:wtf: I shortened my wires up today. I took off about half of the length, but it still gives be the same message for Slot B.

Is this the regular memory card still?

Hmm, it could be shorted, dead, in need of a format, etc.

Check all dem wires, make sure they all go to the right places, you could have them wired backwards, I did that last night by accident.

might sound silly. but do you have ground and 3.3v going to the memcard in the right places? you cant just wire the datalines. it needs power also.
