GC - continuously blinking power led

I've recently found the forums here and have been browsing quite a bit. So far I've been content to be a spectator but I've started considering trying my hand at some mods and the GC looks like it is the most popular modding choice by far.

So I got out my GC and started playing some WW just for kicks and suddenly the console just shut off. LED was off, there was no signal to the TV. I switched it off and back on and the power LED just kept blinking over and over. The signal to the TV was as if someone was actually pressing the power switch over and over: as in it, was flashing in time with the power LED.

I picked the unit up to see if the fan was spinning (which it was) and as soon as I tipped it over on its side, boom, it came to life as normal. But when I turned it right side up it started doing it's little one light rave again. After that I couldn't get it to come back no matter what angle I turned it.

I've been all over Google with various search terms and can't find anything about a non-stop blinking power LED and was hoping to find help here.

I figure this could be a good jumping-off point to learn about the GC hardware before I begin modding since I know next to nothing about it.

Thanks!

Sounds like something's loose or shorting. You may also have a bad AC adapter.

Nail on the head. After posting I went to fiddle with it some more and I pulled the power brick from behind the entertainment center and when I did the GC powered up normally. After about 10 minutes of gameplay the blinking started and the green light on the brick was flashing as well. A good thump on it would get it working for a few more minutes before starting to blink again.

At least it was something simple. Thanks

There's a green light on the brick? Must be 3rd party, meaning it's garbage.

Yes on all counts. Trashed it and got a legit Nintendo brand one for a couple bucks at a local game exchange.
