GameCubeMini ~ Worklog

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

Metallic silver, like the platinum cube. Or metallic black if you really want black.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

Decided to go with matt black with metallic silver accents. Matt black painting is almost done. Then it's time for the accents. Shouldn't take too long now untill it's done

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

I am so excited to see this. I don't even know how you get your cases so perfect or your portables so small. It's not human. You must be a portablizing god.

But.. He is.

Nice choice of colors.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

I kinda suck at graphics so if anybody wants I'm looking for a graphic design for my case. The graphics will be painted in metallic silver.

If you would like to contribute to my project you will ofcourse be credited for your work. Edit my pics and let's see what you come up with. The best design wins a special prize!! What it is I still have to find but you'll get something for you efforts

Here's a accent guide :

I'm still working on a name stencil.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

It's funny. I was planning on making the grills metallic silver like you have shown and for the rest you just filled all the holes...?? :?

All the buttons are going to be original color except for the buttons below the screen they will be metallic silver.

I was actually think of outlining the gc logo.... anyway thanks for the quick mockup. If you have any other idea's post it

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

Here's a little thing, the 3 views don't really match up all together, but I think it depends on what you want, something rather old school, technologic or modern or whatever

Those are mostly ideas.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

I meant for the buttons to be silver... and then for the screen to be outlined, and the GC logo insides to be silver.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

Hmmm been thinking about it and I'm not sure If I wanna go two tone on this one. I don't want to ruin the paint job of the matt black as I have never done two tone before.

Liking the idea's altough most of them I have already though of. Except the circuit lines on the back. Cool idea :D

I want to keep it as original as possible. Like it would be an original nintendo product.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

Little update. Made Slot-B a gecko slot but also backwards compatible with an actual memorycard.

Here's a little adapter I made. It's a modified mirco sd to sd adapter:

Now slot b is usable for gecko sd and memorycard slot b. All tested and fully working. I will show how it works in my video when it's fully assembled.
It is going to get a custom enclosure to make it look a bit neater.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

GENIUS! So you just plug that into the sd gecko, and it becomes a normal slot? Thats awesome! is it going to be a seperate assembly or will it be inside the case?

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

AAArg you are having the exact same ideas as me !!! I was about to do that on mine with a DIN connector :P I was also thinking of black matt painting dude..
But actually you're idea of gecko/memcard is better than mine as you can use a gecko like "plug and play".
You make me want to have one like this :P

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

All idea's and work is open. So feel free to copy anything I come up with. Most idea's are already thought of anyway so I don't really care.

It's all to support the modding scene.

Also the sd-slotB adapter is external. That means whenever I want to use slot b with a memorycard I just insert this into the gecko sd slot. I don't plan on carrying this around with me as I have a 256mb built-in memorycard. Which are 2 switchable 128mb memorycards. One for PAL/NTSC and one for JAP games.

After a couple of days of paint hardening I'll be putting everything together.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

This looks so beautiful Zenloc! I can't wait to watch the presentation video....a thousand times :D

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

That case turned out beautiful Zen. I'm interested to see how you worked out the SD Gecko adapter slot adapter. I had though of doing something like this but not all of the datalines from the memcard are needed for the Gecko. Specifically I believe the INT signal line is not used. I don't have my diagrams here so I cant be sure.

Re: GameCubePocket worklog

All I did was wire pin 3 to pin 1 on the gecko as that pin is not being used. It does not interfere with the working of the gecko in anyway. Then all you need to do is rewire the data lines to the correct path on the memorycard. Also the sense line is always powered with 3.3v so that means it always see something inserted. All that needs to be done is insert the adapter before you power it on to see the memorycard. If you do if while it's on it will not see it correctly. It will be usable however but the gamecube bios won't see it. This due to the sense line not being refreshed.
