GameCube Thermal Paste Help Needed (Cooling Help)

Hi everyone,
I need to know the best way to cool my GameCube.
Should I use thermal paste that's not from the original heat sink?
If so what thermal paste should I get?
Or should I try salvage the original thermal paste?
If I do use different thermal paste should I apply it like any other CPU?
The GameCube's thermal paste is very thick so I'm not really sure what to do.

Any input would be helpful as I have never really messed around with the cooling before.

Thank you.

Im not an expert on thermal paste but i would recommend you do what i have and remove all the original thermal paste from the gamecube, then apply some new paste that you would use when building a pc. I recommend that you put slightly more paste than you would use on a cpu just for good measures.

The paste i have used is the Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound:

Isatonic, I was planning on using that stuff on my GameCube portable, but it is non-adhesive. If I use it, how do I make sure the heatsink stays in place, and that the artic silver 5 doesn't get all over the motherboard? I'm using a heatsink that doesn't come with the GameCube, so I can't screw it down. Since I can't screw the heatsink down, should I be using adhesive stuff?

He's right it's at the top of the market. But remember that if you are using a new heatsink, especially one that does not match up to your case or any screw on the motherboard, it's better to use thermal adhesive. The thermal adhesive transfers heat just like thermal past but it also holds the heatsink in place and on the chips.

Use thermal adhesive and hot glue to keep it in place. You don't want that to come loose off of direct contact.

Not sure about temperature and all that stuff, but isn't using hot glue on something thats supposed to heat up a bad idea? Just a thought, but I may be wrong

The glue might melt, but it's better than nothing holding it in place. Super glue is the other option but it's permannent.
