DEMON PIE!

I'll be updating my first post only. Not sure what I'm going to do with this.

1/31/10
I have relocated the disk drive! And on my first try!

I know, tape and lotsa glue... but now that I've got it working, I'll die if I short anything.

Super Mario Sunshine, yeeeeeaaaa!

2/6/10
I changed out my heat sinks for an Iceberq 4 pro (desoldered the blue leds) and three copper ram sinks. You may notice the fan and heatsink aren't totally covering the CPU and GPU, but it doesn't seem to matter. They've been running cool for an hour now. Not even warm.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

That's not appropriate for the forums, keep that kind of stuff to yourself.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

Woooooo! I managed to do it on my first fricken try! HELLS YEAH SegaES!

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

I'll buy and fry for 40 dollars so you won't have to!
what happened to your other 2 projects? You're turning into a palmer.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

Yeah, I know. I don't have money to complete any one project, but I have several systems, some solder, and a ton of wire to begin them all. Don't worry Mako, the psone-cased n64 is still on my mind, but meh. Once I have enough money, the Genny will be completed. After that, I will likely have to decide between the n64 and gamecube. Likely going to be the n64 first though, because it's a little bit easier to do and I'd like to give it to my GF for her birthday, which is in five months.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

aww, that's nice of you.
make a vid of it playing metroid prime, it is hands down the single best 6th gen console game.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

She hates how much this hobby consumes my time, but she loves the n64. She has no idea I'm working on one, and has no idea what the pcbs or motherboards looks like. So as long as I keep my testing game hidden, it'll be a nice surprise.

I do intend on getting Metroid, I've heard it's pretty fun.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

I know what a loss of direction is like. I still have to finish that atari... And that screen cutting guide. I should work on that today. Yes.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

I have so many unfinished projects it's not even funny.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

I'll get around to finishing this post eventu

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

Sexy DD relocation. I relocated a GC DD and the GBplayer with 22gauge wire before I did a successful N64 cart slot relocation.

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

Techknott's what made me actually want to build a Gamecube portable.

I just followed the pin numbers printed on the gamecube mobo and the disk drive mobo. I've recently discovered solid strand IDE cable, which is what made this easy for me. I never knew how awesome that wire is.

IDE cable is a beautiful thing. Especially for the DD. I picked up a ton of it at a used thrift store for like 3 bucks :awesome:

Re: Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

Update: Changed out the gamecube heatsinks and changed the stupid old title.

The heat comes when it is inside a case. Cover it with a small box with a few air holes and tell me how it does. Seriously because I am interested :)

I'll let you know how it goes. Right now I've had it running for 3 hours non stop and it's cool to the touch.

In case you were wondering, the fan consumes 0.13 amps at 12v. Or at least, that's what the sticker told me. I've also removed the leds though, so it'll be a bit less.
