hate to ask but, how can you properly tell the ipl of a gamecube?

this meathead is about to sell me his old one for 20, so i had him send me a picture of it (ive had it attached), and i'm a tad confused since apparently multiple versions use dol-001.

also related information: this is for the sole purpose of pikmin 2, and since it has an earthbound complex it splits even with a wiikey fusion and breakout board

Theres no real good way to tell without at least opening it up and looking at the motherboard. Pretty much it goes like this:

All PAL GameCubes = All IPL v1.1+

NTSC US/J GameCubes:

DOL-CPU-10 = IPL v1.0
DOL-CPU-11 = 50/50 chance IPL v1.0/1.1
DOL-CPU-20/30 = IPL v1.1+

Another way to tell without opening the console is to run Swiss, but you'll need some way to boot homebrew on your cube.

Rev C GameCubes are all IPL v1.1+

alrighty.

is there a specific year(s) that the versions with ntsc-u 1.0 were produced? or a large percentage chance that I will not get 1.0?

just making sure ive got some decent oddage if i buy it with hopes of chance

This Gamecube was made in Japan, so it is an earlier model.
I would guess a 1.0, but I have come across so few Japan made cubes that it is hard to tell.
