Gamecube heat affecting my controller?

The way my GCP is set up, the controller is in a slit cut on the heat sink. The heat sink does have a fan on it but still gets hot to the touch . The controller, I soldered to the chip for and and b (with magnet wire then to ide wire it was all I had) but to the traces for x and y, I threw an ton of hot glue on top and played it.

Now here's where the problem is, after half an hour playing it it seemed that the a button shorted to the ground so it acted as if the a button was held down or pressed repeatedly. Disgusted, I left it for a day or two until I tried it again , I didn't play it long but the five minutes I did the controller worked fine.

Could the heat be loosening the hotglue ? Then when it dries it works fine? Also How hot should the heatsink get , hot to touch, warm, cool? I don't want to open my GCP because I fear I might hurt the controller which was the hardest part for me.

If you have space, try putting a barrier between those two parts. Hot glue can melt, but if you put a thin layer of plastic behind the controller board, other components will cease to interact with it.

If it gets too hot still, use a different barrier, like cardboard. (it will look ghetto on the inside but hey, it works XD)
