Hey guys, I'm wondering if it is at all possible to strip a GC Composite Cable, and any sort of Component Cable, and connect the wires, if so would it operate in HD? If not does anyone know where I can get my hands on a GC Component Cable for UBER cheap?

nope. the gc component cable has a special decoder chip built into it.
I thought that was only in PAL versions of the cable.

You're thinking of the PAL composite cable, which just has a resistor and capacitor built into it to fix color output on old PAL 50 tv's.

For all regions the component cable has the video decoder chip built in. Its why they go for such a ridiculous price now.
