Gameboy Fusion.

Welp, yea. Had the aforementioned audio noise coming thru on my amp/speakers and I spent most of the day yesterday pissing around trying to fix it. It was most definately noise coming from the switching regs, it sounded a bit like someone making tea (think pot whistling) and was super Dang annoying. After about 6 hours of so of pure frustration I gave up, got super pissed, and beat this *Can'tSayThisOnTV*er with a hammer until I felt good again. The end.

Just kidding, I Worked it all out in a similar fashion as I did on the first Fusion Micro. I put a 20ohm resistor between ground and the audio amp, and A filter inline on the 3.3v power supply to the amp. That got the noise down to "barely noticeable" at full volume. I'm happy.

Yeah I also encountered this annoying sound. It is because the regulators are to close to the av chip. When you move them away the sound goes away. The resistor and cap will work but you still here it. I couldn't live with it so I moved the regulators away. Also it's a good idea to create a shielding cap to cover the regulators and solder the plate to ground. That way you remove any interference they might be sending out.

Just a thought ;) Looking stylish by the way. Can't wait for a little video of it in action

So you like, cover them with aluminum foil and then solder that to ground? That actually works?

Aluminium foil doesn't really work that good. I mean aluminium sheet of around 1mm thickness. Like what's in the gamecube itself. You can even reuse it. That's what I've done in my latest project.

Make sure it only touches ground and nothing else!!! Ofcourse you can let it touch the top of the regulators to conduct the heat to the aluminium ;)

That's a Dang good idea. I'll have to start doing that.

I'll get around to making up a proper finished thread and video here soon, and also one for my PS2 thing. I just FINALLY fixed the last glaring issue with it (video sync issue), so I'll be more than happy to get both of these finished threads up soonish.

So howd you fix the video issue?
