gameboy advance sp issue - maybe new battery needed?

So I found my gameboy advance sp kicking around recently and wanted to play it but the battery was dead (well was able to turn on but the orange light was lit) so i found the charging adapter and left it to charge. When I came back sometime later the battery was pretty much now fully dead, and every time I plug the adapter into the back of it the orange light lights up for a second and then turns off and nothing happens.

So does it sound like the battery is just dead and a new one needs to be purchased or is something wrong on the inside? For the record I have done nothing to it mod wise.

Wait wait wait....so your saying you found your gameboy and you turned it on and a orange light popped up and then it died?
Then you tried to charge it and you tried it again and the same thing happened?
Or are you trying to say that when you try to charge it the charge light pops up for a second and then disappears?
And your wondering if it is a problem with the battery or a different hardware problem?

Sorry for it not making any sense it was 1 am when I wrote it lol.

When I found it, it was working but the light was orange so I turned it off and charged it up. I left it for a few hours and now it doesn't turn on at all. Now, whenever I plug in the charger into the gameboy the orange light turns on for a second and then turns off and nothing else happens.

So yes I am wondering if it is the battery is faulty and old now or maybe it would be something on the inside that is broken.

I would think it might be the battery considering that it stopped working after you charged it.
Also are you using a real nintendo gba sp charger and not some 3rd party knockoff?
You might want to replace the battery first and then see if it works and if it doesnt you know there is something wrong.

Yea it is a legit nintendo adapter it says nintendo gamboy advance sp on the plug. Alright thanks! I thought it was the battery too.
