folding the n64

Can the n64 be cut and folded in half? then rewired ? that would make an epic portable.... smallest ever CAN IT BE DONE?

Nobody has done it before, Bac tried I believe but he sucked at soldering and it didn't work. It may be possible though, I am attempting it when I can get a new board.

i was chatting with him on his forum and he said something about when you attach wires it changes the resistance of the lines causing the board to fry i dont really believe him though i think it might be some bad wires or something.... idk ill have to figure it out myself soo ill probably buy a lot of n64s and try it a couple times....

Better stuff can be done.

what are you talking about? there are areas that even after trimming can be folded to half the size of the mobo after trimming. With a combination of trimming and folding you can fit an N64 mobo into a CGB case with ease. the only problem is nobody has successfully done it lmao

Trust me. It can be smaller than folding.

Yeah he's full of flax. He was just too embarrassed to admit he couldn't do it so he made up something about latency in the traces.

alright i thought soo

bacteria can be like that sometimes....

so when you cut the n64 should i just sand down the traces and wire them back with or should i trace them back to the chip and solder there?

this is all preliminary research before i try this ...

alright will do!

itd be awesome if i can do this hopefully i can

im guessing that i need one of those magnify glasses

which line would be the easiest to cut along and rewire green or red or both? opinions? the mobo in the pic is from one of SS's diagram i have showed ROUGHLY were it can be trimmed according to SS's diagram....

Thoughts?

Epicelite, you can fit an N64 in a Game Boy Color case without "folding the N64 in half."

If you really want to fold it, then rewire 8 billion traces and still have all of your other components be bigger than the n64, go for it.

SS

what do you mean components bigger than the n64 SS?

if i could trim the controller board and get it tiny... soldering to the chip it would fit really nice then get a couple lipo (flat ones)
then trim the buttons up and glue them to the tacts (save room)

2 inch screen if ican find one most likely 3.5 though...

this is probably nearly impossible though i guess itll be fun trying....

cool hopefully i can do it! ill just order like 5 n64s and try it on a couple... if it dont work then ill just build a better portable than my last one ....

Anyone else gonna try?
