Fixing a Monitor; need some assistance

I got this 24" monitor from a friend and am trying to fix it. It turns on and runs for about 10-15 seconds and then the screen goes out, but the status LED on the front says its getting a signal.
I opened up the monitor to examine the boards inside and found two things that looked out of the usual:

The first looks like a blown cap.
The second is probably nothing, but i may clean it up just to be safe.
Could the blown cap be the issue? or might the backlight be broken?
Thanks in advance ;)

Blown caps are usually the issue in monitors that won't stay on. I just got a monitor and fixed it for $8 via cap replacement.

Upon further investigation I found that that component is not a capacitor but rather a posistor.
Does anyone know where I can get a Posistor? I can't seem to find them :gonk:

Posistor is a brand, look for a PTC Thermistor (Positive Temperature Coefficient thermistor).

I'm not sure of the resistance of it, but this may be a starting point as to where to get one.
