Hello Forum ! :tophat:

Some backstory on my project:
I've been a member of this forum for quite some time now but was never really active.
And i tought id change that and keep up a worklog of my first portable Nintendo 64.
I Started this project last winter but lacked a good case and some things weren't going so well With moving the cartridge slot. but all went well now so im resuming the project !

Done so far :
Trim Mobo + Expansion pack
Cleared out the case and made a hole for the screen.
Moved the cartridge slot
Hooked up Composite

For now i have to wait for some parts to come in like the 3.3 regulator and a new screen.
In the meanwhile il be working some more on the case and tear apart my awsome later gen original controller (With an awsome stick :awesome: )

Il Update when i have some more work done !

Will a NTSC PSone Screen work on a Pal N64 ? If not out of the box can it be modded ?

Pics !

nice, im kinda new here, but am a member of a few other sites. but i was wondering why you're using a psone screen? they arent as good as cheap ebay screens imo and cost a lot more. other than that i like how this is going :D

Well when i started the project i did everything with the ps1 screen in mind . But i also realised for the nxt project this is not the way to go. So i will indeed use a other screen nxt time.

Psone screens aren't too bad, but need alot of trimming to make them acceptable. All the info is out there though, and you can 3 sides behind the screen itself, and one sticking out a tiny bit, all very easily.

And secondly, that first screen isn't dead. If you were thinking of using the screen with the cathode still in, you're mad. It draws far too much juice. Cut that whole top section off; LED mod the screen, and away you go. It is an easy mod to do, well documented, I have done 3 now, all a piece of pie. . . take your time, and go slow.

Best of luck with the build, should be a nice portable at the end!

Lol, they're not that bad. Of all the ones I have done now, the picture has been clear with no real bright spots.

But I am going 5" ebay screen on my new one. I have tried to research it to ensure the video isn't skewed, but there isn't much info. I have just seen an image of one being used with Mario Kart Double Dash which should be a 4::3: output game and that looked absolutely fine.

So, when it gets here, as long as I get permanently set it on 4::3: it will all look awesome.
