charge and play?

Hai!
For my n64p I wanted to make it be able to play off of the batteries, and also play off wall power (charge and play). But I have no idea how to. Can someone post some sort of guide please? And I heard that you need a dpdt switch to do this, and I brought these 2 from radio shack.http://comingsoon.radioshack.com/search?q=dpdt+rocker
would these work?
A guide would be greatly appreciated!

The play and charge is just two positions where one side it disconnects the batteries from the system which lets you plug in a power cable and a charger at the same time. That way the portable can properly charge while playing the system.
