Beginner's Guide to The Portable Gamecube!!!!!!!!

VGA is 31 KHz IIRC. But on a PC at least, you can output 15KHz on MOST graphics cards using some sort of driver trick. But it's still RGBHV, not RGBS, so you have to combine the sync. Or something like that.

Anyway, if you include RGB with component you should include s-video too, as it is also separated into components- Luma and Chroma. I forget who pointed that out a while back.

Lastly, this thread is ancient.

Sorry if I offended you, Superthorn - just avoid making pointless posts and especially resurrecting old threads just to make said pointless posts.

I apologize for being a jerk, but there are better ways to find threads again - what you edited your post to say is an acceptable post (to my understanding), even for bringing back this (important) thread. :)

On the top left of the first post on a thread there is an option to subscribe to a thread without having to post :)

you say i need a variable resistor to connect the gc to my screen, but can't i just do it directly like in this diagram? :
GCN-1.png

the power lines that go to the screen in that diagram are going through a TI chip. that chip is a variable resistor. though i would recommend a switching regulator.

etc etc etc

You do not need a variable resistor going between your GCN and screen. That is for PAL Gamecubes and I don't even know then if it's necessary. But no, if you open up the AV cord for a NTSC Gamecube, you'll find that there is no switching regulator.
