OK first start off with some materials
1. Light dispersing panel (All my stuff was taken from an old laptop)

I dremeled out 2 semicircles in the sides so the LED goes in smoothly , and keeps the light all in one place

2. An LED or 2, make em small enough to fit

Now how to build it!
1. Take apart the Gameboy using a triwing screwdriver (As found here)

2. Now remove the screen mobo from the main mobo

3. Now remove all the screws from the screen mobo backing
Screws-Mobo.png

4. Now pry the mobo off the casing, it will be stuck on so gently do this
5. Now remove the two screws (Small) in front of the screen
Screenscrews.png

6. Now peel off the reflective layer off the glass using your NEW razor blade, after it should be just the glass

6-2. Apply too much pressure to the screen, and it will make a pop sound and look like this
Crackedscreen.jpg

6-3. There will be some stickyness left behind, take your time peeling it off.
Now take off your shoe, take off your sock, put your hand in the sock, put two fingers together cticking out of the sock, spray windex on them, now rub off the glue from the back of the screen (I know im so professional!)

7. Now cut off part of the plastic around the screen to make room for the panel, or drill holes if you let the light shine through

See where the part is missing?

8. Desolder time. Remove the indicated parts with you soldering iron

8-You should end up with the Power LED from the front, and two resistors as so

9. Now here is the wiring Diagram

10. Now wire up the -OPTIONAL- power switch like so
0622091559a.jpg

if you dont know how to wire on up  just solder on opposing pins
0622091601.jpg

11. Put the metallic shrapie on 3 of the 4 sides, leaving one of the shorter sides untouched (This traps the light, or use more tinfoil)
0622091540.jpg

12. Now to assembly the backlight, put the tinfoil under the light dispersing panel
0622091540a.jpg

13. Put the white panel ontop (I dont know what it is, but it helps keep the light not so bright, and makes it look cooler)
0622091541.jpg

14. Now remove some of the mobo so the switch can fit (Upper right hand part of screen)

After

15. Now put your resistor that was removed earlier where I showed in the diagram, and wire that to the positive terminal, then solder the negative terminal to the ground source where the LED used to be
0622091604.jpg

16. Slide in the film ontop of the light panel

Did I leave anything out?
Let me know

True macro function is good, but you still know what to do.
And super mega bump of death for this to get stickied, I mean come on a new unexperienced 12 year old modder could follow this

Awesome topic dude, the only thing i don't like are the blurred pics :(

If you can re-do them with macro function the tutorial will look very very great!

GJ ;)
