Hello!

My n64p is well underway with an ETA of being done early next week! (I have no life until school starts next week, so this will occupy 90% of my time)

Here is an album with the current project status... which is partly assembled:

Still to do:
-wire batteries (waiting for them to come in the mail, eta 8/23)
-wire screen (comes in the mail tomorrow)
-wire aux out cable (will do tomorrow... Im just being lazy)
-relocate cart slot
-mount screen/all on-off switches

Quick question, What is the best way to secure a button assembly? Epoxy it or what?

OK... So new update!

Today was the cart slot relocation day! however little ol' me didn't know that if you desolder the ext. port that you need to solder on those pads like in this picture:

(Credit goes to bacman for the photo)

Also, The ps1 screen came and low and IGNORE it doesnt fit into my case... I need a 3.5 inch screen instead. luckily my local electronics store has one at an inflated price. So if anyone wants to buy a working disassembled ps1 screen for pretty cheap, feel free to pm me!

In addition, I got my pth08000was in the mail, so I will wire that up on thursday when my batteries come in the mail.

Again, if anyone knows a good way to secure buttons to a case, feel free to let me know... Also if anyone has information about how to wire a charger to the batteries, it would be much obliged!

Will update again soon!

OK! So i believe I soldered the connections correctly yet I am still not getting any video on screen... Attached is the photo of my work, please be critical and give some advice. I am not really sure what to do, I have tried 3 tv and non of them work and I also resoldered the connections as well... any ideas?

EDIT: could it be the wire I am using? it is CAT5 wire spliced into little wires... It is kinda stiff and is multi stranded. I have 30 gauge wire, should I use that?

OK! Good news everyone!

I finally got video to show up! The problem was I didn't have the audio cables connected. Yes. That was the extent of the problem.

attached are the pics of the cart relocation working!

Next on the list of stuff-to-do is wire the aux out adapter, will be back with progress soon! :awesome:

Hey nice work also is that screen a 5"?

!hanks man! :awesome: No its 4.3, The 5 inch screen didnt fit in the case.

On a side note, all the internal wiring is almost done! just need the battery to come in the mail tomorrow and we will be good to go!

Again, if anybody knows how to wire up a charger, it would be most appreciated as I am not entirely sure how to wire it... Also how to wire it to charge and play at the same time.

OK! Final assembly started today!

put some switches at the bottom of the case, and got everything *almost* wired. just waiting for the batteries to come in the mail tomorrow and i will be pretty much done.

I had to put the screen a little below the controls, but it doesn't really bother me all that much.

Here are some progress pictures:

Will update tomorrow with how it all goes.

Cheers!

OK! New update!

I somehow fried the board, not entirely sure how. Tomorrow I am going to grab a new board and redo all the wiring, its going to kinda suck but will be worth it in the end when I have my portable.

Will update soon.

if you don't know how you fried the last board you will fry the next one

Yeah, I know... I dont know how to test what I fried though. Should I take a multimeter to everything or what?

Double check all the connections before desoldering anything, check the voltages of all power lines. Make sure nothing is bridged.

av been keeping an eye on this and i like the idea of using alot of radio shack parts beautaful  also albout knowing how you fried just check what you did right before it happend and dont repeat it :( want to see this done!!

Well I figured out the problem with the old board, I severed some traces up by the cartridge slot. I got a new board but I am taking this project to college with me to finish it there... Unfortunately I didnt finish it within my deadline. It will get done, its just on hold right this minute.
