GBA AGS-101 Backlit Screen Mod --HELP!!--

Hey everyone,

Assuming if you're reading this you are decently familiar with the process of swapping out LCD's from the original GBA screen to a 2nd generation GBA SP screen (aka, the AGS-101 screen).

I ordered 2 40-pin ribbon adapters because that's what my GBA(s) require. I've got some ideas for when I get better at modding, but for the sake of this post, we'll be talking about my crummy GBA that I'm using as a prototype to get a feel for modding, as this is my first mod.

TL;DR :
The first adapter I tried soldering to the board didn't come with a wire pre-soldered into the P1 pin on the adapter so I tried doing this myself (it was ugly). In the end, I F'd up the ribbon cable after countless tries of desoldering to the adapter and to the board. I threw the first adapter aside and used my 2nd adapter that HAS the wire pre-soldered onto the P1 pin. I soldered the wire to the left prong of the 'Y' off of the DA1 spot on the mother board and proceeded to test the screen for a picture. I received no picture or even flicker, only the green LED from the motherboard, telling me the device was on.

ANY IDEA what I did wrong?

My only concern / thought is that I fried some of the components when desoldering and soldering onto the board. Please, see the pictures below. (Hopefully the quality is OK; used my Galaxy S4's camera)

Please, any response is appreciated. I've sunk a lot of time & money into this project with ordering things online since I started from scratch and although I've been persistent and stuck it out this long, I'm getting really discouraged not seeing any good results.

Thanks

Couldn't figure out how to delete my original forum post after finding out what I did wrong (maybe being on here with my phone us the reason, not sure).

Anyways, what my issue is now, is that my screen is backlit, but the image isn't completely saturated like it should be, it's faded/washed out. Is this an issue with my solder joints or can this be solved with turning the potentiometer? Hopefully someone can get back to me this time around

I was reading a bit about your problem here (page 36):

Be sure to get back me on the forum if this helps!
IT WORKS.
I'll be posting a video of this first prototype once I get the case around the screen shaven down a little more. Also, for anyone who reads this, I connect REVC to the GND (ground) which is located right above all of the pins (you can Google it to find it or something, otherwise stay tuned for my video)
This was helpful for me to find the correct solder point for REVC

Glad you got it working. Quick question: why is your tl;dr longer than the other portion of your post? Kinda defeats the purpose of a tl;dr
