    Need advice for disc lid

Thanks for the response. Heres the comparison. (thats the actual DD in there, so that is definitely where the disc will sit)

    Need advice for disc lid

So theres the case. I made that little back housing to store both the li-ion cells/protection pcb and the disc drive. Obviously the disc will spin on the back there. I tend to rest portables on my lap when I play, so I need a disc lid of some sort. Id also like it to hit a disc lid switch, which...

Data can now be read and written on DNA

I wonder if, since the data stored on DNA is just a string of combinations of 4 different amino acid, that we could just string together different varieties of molecules in an easier-to-manage format and have the same size, maybe greater efficiency, and easier reading.

SNES inside a Nomad (Pictures, Progress, and Problems)

Ya, it was way dead. I even tried supplying it with my own power and screen. Nothing worked. And, I spent a while on the dead nomad with my fingers on the buttons, and made the executive decision that it feels better over there than the alternative. It was too far down or something. It is pretty...

SNES inside a Nomad (Pictures, Progress, and Problems)

Okay, heres the deal: I had this thing all ready to close up, then something bad happened. I am getting audio but no video. Everythings hooked up correctly, and the screen works. Could this be fixable? I think it might be a cap issue, but I'm not sure.

    7805 switcharoo

Yea, also running off of this 5v line would be LEDs to replace the backlight. I think I have an idea in mind for an uber efficient portable. 7.4v battery purely for the 7.4 in on the PSone screen, which I understand doesnt do much, but is nessecary. Then I clip the pins on both 7805 regulators...

    7805 switcharoo

So, I have an interesting idea. I don't know if anyone's tried this before: So, we all know that with a normal 7805, the efficiency isn't perfect. We all also know that the psone screen utilizes 2 7805s. what if one were to use a switching regulator that can handle a relatively high current...

SNES inside a Nomad (Pictures, Progress, and Problems)

Well, I wanted R and L buttons around back for normal play on usual games. The only functionality I wanted to embed is normal functionality. I also wanted to test my case modding chops to see if I could smoothly fill in those buttons. However, if one wanted to use an arcade pad, I am including...

SNES inside a Nomad (Pictures, Progress, and Problems)

Well, here's the money shot: The back: (also pictured: a massive foot) (cart slot hole still needs to be cut, but it will wind up sticking out the back) And those button contacts for the shoulders are from R1 and L1 of an old hipgear I had laying around. Here's the guts as of now: As of...

    3.5" Ebay screen

Wow, so the wall wart was plenty for the draw. But for some reason, neither screen would run on 12v, but as I just discovered, they both ran on my 5v retro duo adapter, which actually is rated for lesss current than my 12v adapter. Weird. Oh well. I wanted to run it on 5v anyway.

    3.5" Ebay screen

Hey, I got a 3.5 inch backup screen from ebay, and hooked it up to 12v with an AC adapter, and the screen stayed blank, with input going into it and everything. nothing I did made it work. So I figured I got a bad screen. So I ordered another screen of another model from another seller, and the...

    D pads for dummies?

Hey, I've build portables before, but always used four separate buttons for d pad purposes. I'd like to do it legit this time and use the original SNES d pad. Every time I put the d Pad in and the tact switches under, and secure it, the d pad either doesn't move, or each direction puts pressure...
