Could use some help with a GBA d-pad re-wire

Hi Guys,

I'm having a lot of trouble with this d-pad re-wiring. Does anyone know 1) what I'm doing wrong, or 2) is there an easier way to accomplish this ?

In the past I've gotten this to work, but it is giving me too much grief at the moment. Thanks.

shove a hobby knife under those tact switches and pop them off; solder to the corners

I would desolder what you have and clean everything up with sandpaper. You can wire all of the grounds together and have just one ground line coming off, you don't need 2 wires coming back off of every button.

Buy some flux, and use it to tin all of the surfaces and wires. Flux is kind of like wicking glue that spreads the heat from the iron quickly and evenly. The result is usually a quick, perfect joint.
