worklog for something, 64

so i am starting my 64 i have been bothering you guys about forever now, so i bet you guys are very happy! lol anyway i finally found myself a job ( for me, trying to find a job is a very excruciating experience due to some criminal charges from my past) and got the rest of the money i need to get my components. now i do not have batteries right this minute but since im sure this project will take me weeks to complete, i may or may not buy them in the future im not to sure.

anyway, after getting help from so many of you here on the forums i have purchased the following items
- n64
- psone screen
- 100uf 16v capicitors (got 100 on ebay extremely cheap)
- 2k ohm resistor, also extremely cheap online
- PTH8080 WAS regulator module, not so cheap
- tri wing screwdriver, gamebit is not neccasary at all
- electrical tape, to help prevent unwanted bridging

heres a pic btw can someone let me know how to upload pics so they show up directly on the page? i feel stupid asking but it will help me with this a lot.

!!!! ALSO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS THING SHOULD BE CALLED SO JUST GIVE ME SOME IDEAS, I DO HAVE A CONCEPT FOR THIS IM NOT JUST BLINDLY BUILDING IT SO IF YOU WANT ME TO SHARE THAT WITH YOU LET ME KNOW

To upload pictures straight to the forum you can use imageshack.org, upload your picture there and then copy the url into your post (make sure that you delete the code before and after the
).

It looks like you have everything you need except a case.

ok so today i soldered up the regulator from the diagram in XCVGs guide and i soldered the right, left audio, and grounded the psone screen. so now i have decided yes im putting a battery in, after realizing that its not that complicated, and well worth the money, plus i already got the regulator. so this project will be put on aside slightly until i get my ( gunna be 7.4v) battery. i would post the pics of my progress but it really is not that impressive, just wanted to let anyone who cares know that i am working on this and have not fried it yet! and i do plan on using the n64 as the case itself, and the screen will just attach to the back and fold onto the system, like a gba sp, or laptop. its a fairly simple design and ill post a concept picture when i finish. Also, while im already ranting, i want to apologize for bothering so many of you again with so many questions that really can be answered by the stickies, then looking deeper into those, and then deeper and the answer IS there ( unless the questions about dreamcast, seriously why is there so little info on this?)

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/443/27210662.jpg/ haha the joke is idk where im putting the battery. most likely on the outside of the case possibly right below the screen to help save room for the controller i have to put inside and the amount of wire.

LiPo flat packs are way better for portables. Higher energy density and way slim, just pop 'em in the bottom of your case. You'll lose less than half an inch of depth.

so i might just not get a battery a couple of things happened and i unfortunatley i ended up having to pay some fees so should i put some resistors from the 12v to the screen so i dont fry it bc im pretty positive that it would fry the screen thats a lot for my 7v psone screen (or7.5 too lazy to recheck) so what do i do?

Don't use resistors; use a regulator. Check out the Voltage section for more info.

thanks i just bought a psone 7.5v power supply from amazon for around 8 dollars gunna be way cheaper than batteries until i recover and save up enough to put one in thanks for your help i found a lot of info from deep in the voltage section so im good now ill just need to search for some sort of wiring diagram to see how to hook it up to both the screen and the n64 bc i am trying to power both

You can put the 7.5V into the 12V line, and regulate it too 3.3V for the 3.3V line.
That is if the adapter can pump out enough amps.

just wanted anyone who cares to know that i am still waiting on my power cord to get in the mail and i havent done much of anything wit the n64 besides change the red led to a green one but thats nothin. anyway still nobodys givin me a name to think about for this thing i was gunna call it the n64 sp but that is now taken so what should i call this thing? if worse comes to worse i might just stick with the something 64 as the name of it but if anyone has any suggestions post them so everyone can voice their opinion and also when i do get my power cord am i supposed to just cut the end part off, run it to the 12v then through the reg to the 3.3v? thats about the only way i can think of doing this
