Wii trimming problems Updated 6/6

Last Sunday I trimmed my wiiboard, just a little of the shielding. I was looking at the top of the board making sure I didn't damage anything using a nibbler.

It went well untill i looked at the other side of the board where the nibbler had chrushed five components. :? Yay me

The missings parts are:
TH3
C264
D14
C245
D9

I went and tried to turn it on, when I inserted 12v the red light lit up and when I pressed the power button it flashed green before it turned off.

The missing parts are all related to the power regulation.

I downloaded the datasheet for LV5044, which is similar to the LV5043 that's is the regulator on the wii and let my dad have a look at that. Yesterday he brought home some smd components according to the datasheet that we soldered on (it was a real pain, they are so tiny!)
No change when turning it on (still red light, green flash)

ShockSlayer, I have seen your wii running off custom regulators. Also your pics with all the power components removed. Did you get it working with custom regulators after all the power components were removed?

Is my board fried?
I might as well use custom regulators if that's working...

Thank you for reading

Re: Wii power components removed not turning on

Make sure you sand the sides, because you used the nibbler. The wii has 6 or so layers that are near each other, so perhaps some connected when you are nibbling.

Re: Wii power components removed not turning on

I did sand the sides, not super carefully though. As I only cut in the metal ground shielding, not through any traces (I hope  ) the risk for layer bridges is pretty small.... right?

It seems to happen to me all the time with Cubes and Wiis.

I did get it running with all the components removed, but I had to do some weird stuff and I can't even remember what...it's easier to just leave them all on.

Re: Wii power components removed not turning on

My board is working again, my dad took it to work and resoldered the components under a microscope.
Thanks for the help :D

Changed the topic name to trimming problems as I seem to run into a few.

This is how my board look now

The problem is that it won't go into the system menu. ShockSlayer, you had a similar problem when you removed all the power components? I can still launch games through neogamma and my wiikey. My wiimote isn't synced and I belive I need to get to the System menu for it to sync?

The SD card slot is removed, could this be why it won't go into System menu?

Nah, has nothing to do with the SD card. I didn't get any menus IIRC, I think 3.3v wasn't getting across the board or something.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I found this thread and he has the same problem and symptoms as I have, not going into system menu and wiimotes not syncing.

As I said previusly I was able to launch gamecube games through my wiikey. So now I connected my discdrive and tried to launch Wii Sports with neogamma and it won't load. Basically the wii partion won't boot but gamecube part still works through homebrew.

The wii needs both bluetooth and wifi module to boot and I know my wifi module is working as the wii connects to my home network in homebrew channel. That leads me to belive that my bluetooth module is broken.

I'm going to order a new bluetooth module, but that will take some time to get here.

Now the question is what could have broken it?
