wii dvd drive on gamecube

For one of my commissions, I may end up using a wii dvd drive for the gamecube. I'd like to do top loading. How do I do this?

Now, I know I need to simply follow the wiring guide for the wii daughter board, but how can I change it to top loading? I know palmer stripped the wii dvd drive and got it to load by toggling the detection switch. I can't find the thread, and I forget how he did.

If you wanted to slim the drive like palsmer did and eliminate eject as of right now all you would have to do is wire pin 29(wii) to ground. Pin 23(wii) to pin12(gc) is the lid open/closed signal. you could wire a switch between these pins to simulate lid open/closed.

Judging from the video, doesn't the DD need to be reset after an eject and maybe upon boot? This can obviously be feasible with a normally closed tact, but what about a microcontroller and a transistor?
