where do you get +5 volts on an n64?

Careful though, you may get a lot of video interference if you use that 5v line, it's connected directly to the video chip-y thing I think.

You should be able to use a diode to stop that.
 
The 5V line is brought out to the AV connector for RF modulators and such. I used it for the audio amp in YAP64. Never had any video interference problems (lots of others though).
