Touchpad wiring

Is there any way I could wire a touchpad to The analog pins on a controller and use it as the analog stick.I was just wondering because they both kind of do the same thing but differently and it has four wires coming out of it...same as the analog stick but a touchpad might send data differently than an analog stick no matter how many wires there are coming out of it.Anyways just a thought.

You know, actually, it might work. You'd need an IC, at least, but resistive touchpad output data on almost the same principal as analog sticks, in the form of varying resistance's so it can triangulate your fingers position. However, so far as I know, touchpads have four resistive axis', wherewas analog sticks have two. In addition, if the touchpad is capacitive, its totally different.
