Thursty's new Portable, The Thursty64(DONE, SEE NEWS FORUM)

Thursty

SS's Preferred Refreshment
I really am bad at naming things.

Anyways, this is going to a portable for myself, NO MORE COMMISSIONS.

Its going to be a full featured portable, I'm not focusing on size either, so it will be as big as it need it to be.

Specs:
Completely un-modded Zenith Screen
Superpad controls with N64 Buttons and GC Joystick
Frankencase made from Old CRT monitor plastic
9 amp LiPo Batteries
Rev-03 N64
All Buttons, Headphone jack, Video out, etc
Docking station
Maybe LOB64 port. :P

So far I have a mockup of the case made in PS, and I have the front piece cut out

Parts are on the way, And I have all the free time in the world.

I will be done quickly, but done well. I want it to look good and last long.

Looking good, but make it tiny.
Nope. I'm not joining the race to make the smallest portable. I'd rather know for a FACT that I can fit everything in without causing parts to be cramped/messy.

This portable is going to have plenty of room inside to breathe, and it will be built using screw posts. Not hot glue ;D

Anyways.

Case Progress.

Oh.

And Cartslot Relocation. It's like riding a bicycle, or should I say, the Bagel Once you do it once, it always works.

Lookin' good!

That's a nice, neat cart slot relocation, too.

Looking forward to seeing more! :awesome:

Not to be rude, but what the Heck happened to the analog stick hole? Is it going to stay like that?

Lol.

Also, would be a good idea to file down the edges, I think.

Looks like that could look good when finished though.

SP, Thats the rough cut.

I've yet to do anything other than bondo everything and sand, Thats the first coat of primer to pull out the defects.

Its maybe 10% right now

Re: Thursty's new Portable, The Thursty64

This looks like it's gonna be a very comfortable portable to use! Personally, comfort would be high up on my list of priorities in creating a portable (if I'm gonna be making a piece of custom electronic work, why wouldn't I customize it so it feels good to hold?), so I'm liking how this one's looking so far.

Hope that case stays together okay, though -- I might be wrong, but I don't know how well hot glue and putty would hold it together under actual use. Unless, of course, you plan on reinforcing it with some stronger material.

Keep us posted! :D

I love landscape format cases! They just look like fun over portrait format.
