SNES controller wire

I had about two nonworking snes controllers, so I took all of the wire out of it. It's a pretty good size and I'd like to use, but when I stripped it's not exactly stranded. It's more or less thin strips of copper wrapped a bunch of thin thread. Now, what I need to know, Is this wire usable in anyway for modding stuff like relocating the cart slot?
