i was surprised at how small the everdrive 64 is.

its super thin too

Re: Schnuppy24's n64p worklog

The 3.3V step down regulator is wired up and working (the cap and resistor are underneath it)

the thickness is just over 2 inches now. Once the batts come ill be able lay everything in the case to see how much extra room i have to play with. Ill probably make it a bit thinner.

almost done with the case. I just need to add holes for the SD card and the on/off switch. Then paint!

I might cut some small holes on the top and bottom sides to add for more ventilation.

keeping it simple with the L,R, and Z buttons. Im using white tactile switches.

The areas that i frankencased still need some work. Im gonna let it dry tonight then sand a bit tomorrow and apply more spray paint. If that doesn't work then im gonna go out and buy some white primer.

The back part i frankencased came out a ton better than the front.

thanks for the positive feedback! :D

and thecaseperrojas is correct about the start button

Re: Schnuppy24's n64p worklog

THAT is a nice case! Loving it, can't wait until you have it finished! :D

Which screen do you use? How large is it? Price?

Thanks man im very pleased with how the case is coming along too! i should be done painting it this week. Sanding and painting to get all the imperfections out takes a while.

The screen i used is this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-5-6- ... 40797.html
This screen has been known to be used by Ashen a few times and i have also used it in my GCp. The size of the one im using in my N64p is 5.6 inches. For some odd reason the 5.6 screen is picky about voltage and needs about 10V to run, unlike the 5 inch one i used in my GCp can take 5V and run. The price is a bit steep too at 100$.

How did you got 10V to the screen?

I have my battery of 7.4V going into two 7805's, then the 5V leaving the two 7805's go into a ptn04050 voltage regulator set to output 10V. The reason why i use two 7805's is to ensure that my screen gets enough amperage. My only gripe about using this method is that the 7805's get pretty hot so i put a VGA memory heat sink on both of them.

Re: Schnuppy24's n64p worklog

It sounds to me that using a step up would be more efficient than the 7805 rig he has going.
Heat = Wasted power

Step-ups waste a lot of battery, be careful with them.
i know but my batteries are rated at 7200mAh so I'm pretty confident that will still give me plenty of playing time.

true but i couldn't find another step up regulator that could put out enough current to run my screen.
