Retro64 Stick?

Can the Retro64 N64 3rd party controller be hacked and changed for a Gamcube controller stick?
It looks like the same technology as the Nintendo ones..

No, J.D, you can't. The retro 64 requires a 50k-ohm joystick. The regular GC stick is only 10k ohms. You can't use one unless you replace the potentiometers on the GC stick with 50k-ohm ones. Its too much of a pain to do, get a Superpad 64, then you can just directly wire up a GC stick.

... Correct me if I'm wrong, couldn't you just wire a 40K resistor in series with the legs (except common, ground, middle, whatever you want to call it) of the pot?

So, this is the same one right except for solid black right? So this would work and it would be cheaper for you and everyone right? Sorry for bumping this topic... bump. Thanks.
